Simon complete the term of Gilles Toutant who resigned.
We want to welcome Simon and wish him well in his new role.
The union committee had recommended acceptance of the contract, says Claude Boisvert, Business Rep. of District 11 and spokesperson for the committee.
The contract had expired nearly a year. Wage increases will be 6% or 1.5% – 2% and 2.5% for the next three years. A significant improvement for additional staff has been made. They will receive the same benefits after 3 years. Also, we keep the same pension defined benefit plan for all our current and future members.
Mr. Boisvert stressed that this was the longest and difficult negotiations he has done in its 23 years of experience. Negotiate with a company in financial difficulty and in a context where all pension defined benefit plans are attacked have made the very difficult task.
Thank you to members and the bargaining committee have been supportive during this time.
